Term 2 Week 6- News In Class Blog Prompt - Sunday, May 10, 2009 5:18 AM

Q: You are the newly appointed Director of the corruptive Practices Investigative Unit. Write a 350-word long speech to be delivered at a ministerial meeting where you describe the three main actions your team will be taking to stamp out corruption in your country.

The first precaution that we will take is to pay close attention to the actions of the citizens of our home country. We will organise gatherings where the members of the neighbourhood come up and voice their views on the state of the present government, and support whatever reasonable complaints against the democracy of the goverment.
We will also publish books that provide information on corruption, so the public will understand what corruption is and do their part to combat it. This ensures that the public will be aware of the prejudices the government make against them, should there be any. This will also teach them to understand the importance of an election when one is neccesary, and they will most likely make the right decision. This way, we will not have to take all the action needed to make the people be safe of a corrupt government.
Thriedly, we will moniter the government's actions as closely as possible to make sure that he is not corrupt or under the effects of corruption. If so, we will immediately take legal action to elect a new government, or at least have the people decide whether they still want our current leader to stay. This way, the government would either risk us unearthing his anti-democracy plots or just do away with them entirely.
Using these methods, we can effectively and quickly stamp out corruption in the city of Singapore, and have the people true peace.
