Prompt: My first Semester as a Sec 1 Student - Monday, May 25, 2009 9:15 PM Please don't read this unless you are Ms Soh It has been 6 months since I joined as a son of HCI, and I feel that my journey has been an enriching one. I have had many great times and bad times. When I first entered HCI I felt that I had lost many friends from my old school, many of which had gone to RI. For the first few weeks I did not try to make any new frineds, choosing to salvage whatever relationships I had with friends from my old school, which were spread out in the other classes. This was how I became best friends with Nigel and Qi Dong, as they were from my old school and I preferred their company to the rest of my classmates. However, Nigel and me soon grew distant from Qi Dong as we found that he had certain qualities that we did not like. We are eutral with him now and are trying to forge new bonds to our old ex-best friend. I fought extremely hard for my CCA, but failed to get into the CCA I desired as I lacked the skill. In the end, I forced my way in, only to find out that I could not keep up wit all the training sessions and that my skills were not nearly close to my friends'. I stayed and tried my best to improve to their standard of the game, but I just couldn't and at the beginning of term 2 I went to the head of CCA of Uniform Groups to help me change my CCA. As he had already advised me not to insist on the CCA I had wanted, he reprimanded me and enlightened me to the truth. Inthe end, I managed to switch my CCA, but with a new mindset of the school's EP3 system. I went to NPCC, a CCA that I had thought was nota very good one, but after the verbal beating that I received, I realised that every CCA had its good points. My favourite eating place for this period of time was the Fish Tank, thye cafe in the Junior College site. I would always go there with Nigel to play cards or watch videos on the computer in there. My term one MSG was above 2.0, whch was notvery good. I still do not know the results for this term's results now, but I think I made a slight improvement :D. My plans for the future are to study hard for my next examinations and to get an overall grade that is < than 2.0! I know thhat it will take some improvements in some subjects, and I will try not to deprove in anysubject, especially LA. I will have to do more blog prompts like these and contribute more in class discussions.I should also spend more time watching CNA, as my Geography teacher has advised just today. I jope that with my added hard work, I will be able to overcome the odds and achieve this goal. But seriously, I can't kick the computer games... |
